Training

Many women and children in the Red Light District feel trapped in the sex industry. Women who have been sold or tricked into this lifestyle feel as if they have no other options beside selling their bodies. Manna House of Prayer wants to change this with teaching and training. We are currently training women to make jewelery and teaching them English.  We also have plans to teach tailoring and screen printing as well. But, more importantly, Manna House of Prayer is teaching women about their identity in Christ – that each woman is a daughter of a loving God who has “plans to prosper them and not to harm them, plans to give them hope and a future.” (Jer 29:11)

Biblical Training

Manna House strives to implement the gospel in all that they do for the women and children of the red-light district. We teach many subjects, including our identity in Christ, safe touching, and personal hygeine. We have found that these topics have a profound impact in how the women view themselves and others.

English

Being able to speak English is a skill that is in high demand in the Mumbai area, so the Manna House teaches women and children to read, write and speak English. This provides women with yet another way to support themselves after they leave the sex trade industry.

    Jewelry

We teach the women to make beaded necklaces and bracelets, which are then sold locally and internationaly. The bulk of the proceeds go to the women while the remaining goes to purchase the jewelry-making supplies. If you would like to purchase our jewelry and support the Manna mission, you can email Hoinu at abhayhoinu@gmail.com/ mannahouseofprayermumbai@gmail.com

Future plans

We dream of expanding our training program to include tailoring and screen printing so that even more women can find freedom and become funtioning members of society away from the sex trade industry.

Personal Testimony

Phul Kumari*  visited the Manna House of Prayer in March 2009. As we began to teach and counsel her, we found out that she wanted to learn how to tailor and to leave the sex trade industry. We began to train her in the skills she would need to become a successful tailor. Today, Phul is living and working in the Mumbai area, successfully supporting her family and children. We pray that there would be many more women like Phul who will be set free from the chains and live a life that is glorifying to God.
